Areola repair through repigmentation:
Aesthetic blending of breast scars after surgery is very effective
in recreating the natural appearance of the areola and involves
the implantation of aesthetically supportive pigments into the patient’s
breast areola region. Most commonly this is done for patients that
desire a cosmetic enhancement to the areola region after having
a mastectomy, breast reconstruction or breast augmentation.
In the event that a patient did not undergo reconstruction
after mastectomy, areolas can also be placed for cosmetic balance.
This creates the appearance of the nipple/areola and can be designed
to match the natural shape and size desired.
Patients who have opted to have surgical cosmetic
reconstruction of the areola can still benefit from some additional
enhancement and a more natural looking breast through clinical electropigmentation
procedures.
After breast reduction surgery, patients may have
resultant discoloration as well as a loss of contour of the nipple/areola
area. Electropigmentation is ideally suited to provide cosmetic
balance and assist the patient regain the confidence in the appearance
of their breasts.
Additionally women who desire a more defined shape
to their areolas or who lack areola color can benefit from permanent
makeup electropigmentation procedures.
